Why not just walk into your local health food or big box store and pick up some essential oils there?

Quality. Plain and simple.

Most essential oils available today are only suitable for cosmetics and perfumes. Essential oils are concentrated and quite potent! Whatever is in that oil is going into your system.  If the essential oil you use has pesticides, additives, solvents, synthetics (catch my drift?), you are driving all of those things into your system counteracting the whole purpose you are using them! Putting essential oils in the air you breathe, on the skin you live in, and in the body you rely on demands the cleanest, highest quality you can provide.

The reason Young Living’s oils are so different than any other oils is their incredible commitment to producing pure, unadulterated oil with the optimal levels of constituents to achieve the results you are seeking in using them in the first place.  Young Living has over 25 years of experience researching and producing quality essential oils. Young Living is the only company that owns its own farms and distilleries and only partners with farms that follow their strict Seed To Seal Standards. Their Seed to Seal Commitment is unmatched by any other essential oil company in the world.

What is the Seed to Seal process for essential oils?

line.png

Step 1: Seed

High quality oil starts with high quality seeds.  We handpick seeds based on their potential to produce potent essential oils.  Our selective process means high levels of bioactive compounds in each botanical.

Step 2: Cultivate

All our farms emphasize sustainable growing and harvesting.  Our experts travel the world visiting the Young Living farms and our carefully monitored partner growers to make sure cultivation processes meet or exceed the highest standards.

Step 3: Distill

Our methods marry cutting-edge innovation with time-tested techniques.  We distill oils once at low temperatures and pressures using clean water and medical grade stainless steel distillers.  Our gentle, yet effective, distillation protects the oil’s delicate constituents. We carefully cold press and resin tap select oils.

Step 4: Test

To guarantee consistent, verifiable quality, we test our oils to ensure that no oils are diluted, cut, or adulterated. Internal and third-party labs ensure quality.  Testing verifies that our oils meet and exceed industry-leading standards.

Step 5: Seal

We bottle the essential oils in UV-protective amber glass at our local Utah facility.  State-of-the-art equipment bottles and labels each product in our dedicated clean facility. Single-source shipping goes to families around the world.

So, why is it so important that the oils you use are therapeutic grade?

line.png

THERE ARE FOUR DIFFERENT GRADES OF ESSENTIAL OILS:

  1. THERAPEUTIC ESSENTIAL OILS

These essential oils are pure, extracted from sustainably raised plants, and contain optimal levels of natural plant compounds found in organic botanicals.

2. NATURAL OR ORGANIC OILS

These oils can pass growing standards but may or may not contain the optimal levels of important compounds necessary for our best use.

3. EXTENDED OR ALTERED OILS

These oils are considered fragrance grade oils because they are used for their aroma only and offer minimal or undetectable levels of important plant compounds.

4. SYNTHETIC OR NATURE IDENTICAL OILS

These oils are simply created in a laboratory.

All of these can be labeled as pure essential oils, yet the only ones you want to use on and in your body are therapeutic grade.  This is why it is so important to know exactly where your oils come from, growing conditions, how they are distilled, and the quality control standards. It is imperative that the company extracting essential oils knows exactly when to harvest the plant and exactly how to distill it properly in order for the essential oil to contain the constituents necessary to ensure that it is therapeutic grade.

Young Living Cypress Essential Oil

Let’s look at Cypress, for example.  Cypress essential oil has 280 known chemical constituents that are produced when distilled at the proper temperature for the optimal amount of time.  If Cypress is distilled for 20 hours, the oil will yield only 20 constituents. If Cypress is distilled for 26 hours, the oil will not contain of any of these constituents.  Most Cypress on the market for purchase is distilled for 3.5 hours, way under the necessary amount of time needed to produce a quality Cypress essential oil. However, if it is distilled for 24 hours, the Cypress essential oil will contain all 280 constituents.  If Cypress essential oil is going to provide you with the results you are seeking, you must get ALL of the constituents!

With Young Living, if at any point in the process the soil, plants, or essential oils do not meet these standards, the batch is rejected.  The essential oil will not be bottled and made available for purchase unless testing reveals it has met our strict standards. We are a purpose driven company, which means YOU come first, not profit.  Sometimes this commitment means our favorite oil goes out of stock, but that’s okay because we know that when it is available, it is pure and meets therapeutic standards.

Young Living is so committed to this process, they allow you to come visit their farms, experience, and

be an active participant in the Seed to Seal process in person!
