Lemongrass

Lemongrass

Lemongrass essential oil is distilled from dried lemongrass. Lemongrass is widely used in Chinese and Thai recipes. Lemongrass essential oil has a light and fresh lemony smell with earthy undertones and is a natural deodorizer. It is stimulating, relaxing, soothing, and balancing.

Lemongrass is commonly used for purification and digestion. It has been used to help detoxify the digestive tract, liver, kidneys, bladder, and pancreas. Because it works as a diuretic, consuming lemongrass vitality will help you to flush harmful toxins out of your body. It is also helpful in supporting your body when dealing with stomach distress, nausea, gas, and diarrhea. Lemongrass also promotes stimulation of the bowel and improves overall digestion. Bonus, it can help with PMS related nausea and irritability!

Lemongrass is highly supportive of the immune system and the skin. It has antifungal, antibacterial, antiparasitic, and anti-inflammatory properties. If your body temperature is higher than normal, lemongrass oil can have a cooling effect. Its astringent properties make it perfect for getting even and glowing skin. It can also help strengthen your hair follicles, so it’s a great addition to shampoo or conditioner.

Lemongrass essential oil is commonly used to help relieve muscle pain. It supports regeneration of connective tissues and ligaments and it is often used to help soothe sore or painful muscles. Lemongrass also assists the body in dilating blood vessels, improving circulation, and improving lymph flow. The calming and soothing effects of lemongrass supports the body in relieving the pain, pressure, or tension that can cause headaches.

Lemongrass helps boost self-esteem, confidence, hope, and mental strength, and it uplifts spirits. This can be very helpful when dealing with failure in career, personal life, insecurity, loneliness, stagnation, death of a family member or close friend, etc. The calming and mild smell of lemongrass oil is known to help relieve anxiety, irritability, and insomnia. The sedative and hypnotic properties of lemongrass oil can help to improve the duration and quality of sleep.

Breastfeeding mothers find it helpful both in increasing milk production and enhancing the quality of breastmilk. Lemongrass oil is a galactagogue. Apart from increasing milk production, it also helps babies in another way. Babies are prone to infections, so the antimicrobial and antibacterial properties of lemongrass oil are also absorbed in the milk, thus indirectly helping the baby avoid such infections.

Aromatically, Lemongrass promotes psychic awareness and purification. Spiritually, Lemongrass helps clear regrets or shame, encouraging forgiveness of those who have dishonored and discredited us. It illuminates the phrase, “forgive and forget.” It reminds us that we are who we are, and that all life’s experiences make the whole. With clarity, we can understand that choices are ours to make, and the freedom of choice is a gift given to us to embrace. The outcome of following our spiritual journey will depend on the choices we make.
